Cross‐sectional and confining system unification on peak compressive strength of FRP confined concrete

Despite the many axial confinement models already proposed for determination of peak compressive strength fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) confined concrete columns, they are, in general, applicable only to columns circular or square cross-section, with full partial arrangements. In this study, by proposing a cross-sectional and confining system unification approach, new model is developed calibrated based on large test database. For generalization cross-section FRP-based arrangement, concept efficiency factor unified mathematical framework adopted. By simulating experimental tests comparing predictions existing models, one demonstrates very high reliability suitable design purposes balancing simplicity usage accuracy.
